Six years ago, while we were living down the end of a dirt road, the
entrance to one of our paddocks was used as access to some cattle yards in
a property behind. It soon became a quagmire as cars and trucks
skidded and bogged so I took some photographs of it, plus a neighbour's
farm gate for 'Landscape with Farm Gate'. I came back to it for 'Mud' and
again for 'Mud, Gate and Gibbet' (the gibbet tree was real with dogs and
cats strung up as well as foxes, in various stages of decomposition). In
the meantime we had, however, moved well away from the original mud into
an area with a more vibrant red clay, but it wasn't until I
compared the images that I realised how much my palette had changed. |
