I had attended a racetrack with a neighbour for this horse to be trialled. He failed, but I got a chance photograph of him being hosed down and I painted him because I wanted to. Horses, like dogs, express exactly what they're thinking through every inch of their body and they are simply fun to paint.

As I was having fun I used the buzzard to balance the top corner rather than struggling for something more real, and used the image of Marilyn Manson from his 'Smells Like Children' album to both pull your eye back down to the right, and send it off back up to the left again.
