This was going to be so easy - straightforward composition, lots of mud, that terrific auger, a dropper and some flags. It was the first one I did after the 1999 show but it was endlessly complicated, with all the different areas and levels, and I struggled for week after week though, of course, I didn't have the time to 'waste'. In the end it got more abandoned than finished.

A year or more later, after the 2000 show (when it didn't sell) I repainted and resolved a lot of the foreground.
