Death of a Yabbie
38 x 30 cms 1997
$550 Sold
During a visit from some Australian friends we were introduced to the pastime of
yabbying in our dam. We caught heaps and then pigged our way through
them though not one of us was particularly hungry. I particularly
remember the son thrusting this live creature in my face and saying,
look what a good one before he flung it in the bucket.
So, many years later, I painted it in front of some pretty wallpaper and a nice china cherub. There are no 'obscure alternative meanings' in this piece. It's about death.
It was, incidentally, the first time I used Marilyn Manson's face.
