I wonder if it's obvious that, from 1999-2001, I was churning them out, painting for the sake of producing something to put on a gallery wall. I had had a very successful solo show at Art Images in 1999, and the director, Colin said, 'Great, we'll do it again next year', 25 new works. That's 2 a month. Now (in 2006), I'm lucky to get 2 finished in 3 months.

I did, however, quite like this one. I'd had great fun going round horse shows taking photos, and picking up bits of detail, like the bending poles. Horses are lovely things to paint.
