Interior with Plastic Animals
84 x 92 cms 1997
$895
I had an obsessive idea about our very square dining chair and the pile of toy animals down in the corner.
I spent weeks hunting through toyshops for them. Then I scattered them into a random heap and spent a long, long time unravelling all the shapes, perspective and tonal balances.
Painting ceased to be fun long before the end and I began to wonder why on earth I was bothering, though I was, eventually, quite happy with it.
Then I set myself the same problems all over again for the Toy Soldiers, seven years later.
