Man Running No 2
122 x 137 cms  2003
SOLD for $3500

We drive across these hills on the way to Adelaide. Parts of the hills are eroded away to bare rocks, threaded with sheep tracks, and are particularly wonderful when they're bleached dry in the summer.

I added the man running to this landscape as he had the same feeling of remoteness to him. To identify him as a competing runner rather than an ordinary person jogging I gave him a number. I gave him number 43 as devotees of the 'Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy' will then say, "but that's not the meaning of life." (Which is, of course, the number 42.)

**There are more notes on the man running on the Compare 1 and 2 Page and a comparison of my development in painting the Mount Lofty Ranges on the Compare Hills Page.
