There is a main road that runs along the top of the Mt Lofty Ranges and another running parallel along the bottom. There are also roads down through the hills, joining them together, every 20 Ks or so. Each of these roads is totally different and utterly spectacular. But, in addition to the hills themselves and the vast panoramic views across the Murray plains, the dirt has eroded down to rocks. If you see moss rocks in people's backyards in South Australia, they came from these hills, damn them. There was just so much to paint, I didn't know where to begin. This work is a combination of rocks from one road and the hills from another. ** There is a comparison of my development in painting the Mount Lofty Ranges on the Compare Hills Page. |
