With a show at Art Images coming up and being stuck for something to paint, the gallery director suggested I looked at the Grange kiosk, near Adelaide, and this is the result. It was one of those endlessly difficult pieces, resolving the composition and the colour balance, and the wire (which made a huge difference) could only go in right at the very end.
Anyway, the painting got sold and the next thing that happened was that it appeared on all the Grange Kiosk's advertising, unbeknownst to either the gallery or myself. My first experience of copyright - the artist generally retains the copyright of the painting, even when it's sold - but I subsequently got a free lunch and my name all over the advertising which was excellent publicity.
