Hunting around for a move interstate, I committed myself to a group exhibition in Sydney put on by an organisation called Sportraits. The theme was, obviously, sporting. This was one of the pieces. The others were so bad they were destroyed long ago, but I gave this to Brian as it is so like him.

At the same time I also approached a couple of Melbourne galleries, the first of which, one of the major galleries, wanted me to sign a contract agreeing to my work being uninsured and my having to wait for the proceeds of consignment sales for 60 days. The second gallery took 5 pieces, immediately exhibited them and sold 3. I was so excited!

Five months later I used a collection agency to get my money.

It was at this show, however, that Colin Burgin of Art Images in Adelaide first saw my work and approached me to exhibit with him, which I did, happily, for the next 3 years.
