I have explained the background to the painting of trucks on the Trucks Page, but for every truck there is a landscape behind it, and I was always particularly happy with this little piece. It came at the end of a long day when I mixed a palette-full of left over grey paint with some burnt sienna and that little corner just flew together, in spite of me. The painting was sold back in 1996 but I came across it again earlier in 2004, scratched, damaged and for sale, in Greenhill Gallery. It is a difficult thing to find a favourite painting (Tamsin at Pivotal calls it a 'key piece!') fallen on hard times, so I bought it, restored it, and sent it over to Pivotal, where it looked absolutely splendid. |
