Truck Passing a Farm Gate

Still stuck for ideas, I went back to trucks.

This was, in fact, the only period that I didn't know, while doing a painting, what the next one, and probably also the one after that, was going to be. The most common thing people ask me is where I get my ideas from, and the answer is that they are everywhere. I can't drive down the road without there being some new thing. I have thousands of photos but, to do a painting, some thing has to really motivate me. This one, and the next, were 'made up' from images I had filed months before.

The truck was delivering dolomite for my husband's 20' x 40' shed floor, (the driver was totally bemused by me and my camera) paid for by the previous exhibition, and the landscape is a couple of Ks up the road, though the gate is the same as Landscape with Farm Gate. The parrots are the local Murray Ringnecks. I did, in fact, end up really liking this one, with that great grey slab, which was ridiculously difficult to paint.
