Vineyard Scarecrow
106 x 137 cms 2000
Having seen a scarecrow in a vineyard, I created my own which became nearer to a
sculpture than a 'prop', created from clothes found in op shops and my husband's
hat.
At the trellising stage vineyards are no more than a flat, bare paddock defined by a complicated perspective of posts and tightly strained wire, which gave me the opportunity to paint very closely exactly the space I had preconceived.
The background is a view from Crows Nest Road, above Victor Harbor.
